Inspection of the SR500 ignition
The first thing to do is to check the individual components:
Wiring harness, kill switch, ignition lock, alternator, ignition plug, ignition coil, ignition cable. Often overlooked is the inspection of the kill switch. This sometimes generates a leakage current (permanent or short-term) and thus destroys the alternator. Checking is often not possible with a commercial multi-tester.
