History
The 1VJ series marks the second generation of the XT600Z Ténéré, which was built from 1986 to 1987. For the first time, Yamaha equipped an XT600Z with an electric starter in addition to the kick starter. The center of gravity was lowered by a new 23-liter tank. The (rated) power increased to around 46 hp. With its typical Ténéré rally look, front disc brake, and rear Monocross suspension, it was designed as a versatile enduro motorcycle.
