Yamaha XT500 Tank Mount
On this page we have listed all the spare parts required for tank assembly.
The
damper pad item no. 27243 is required twice and is glued into the tank on the left and right above the front mounting points. A
rubber damper item no. 10060 is inserted in each of the front mounting brackets. The
rubber item no. 10062 is inserted from below into the rear mounting bracket.
The attachment of aluminum and steel tanks is identical. For the front mounting points, you can choose between the original mounting (
bushing,
25 mm washer,
6 mm spring washer und
hexagon bolt) or the visually more attractive
KEDO tank mounting set item no. 50683 (which is easier to fit).
The
side rubber dampers item no. 27244RP are each bolted to the frame with a
M5 Phillips screw and a
5mm spring washer. The rear attachment is made using a
dished washer item no. 29992, a
8 mm spring washer and a
M8 hexagon bolt.
The steel tank was installed on the XT500 from 1976 - 1979, on the TT500 until 1978. From 1980, the aluminum tank was installed on the XT500 (on TT500 from 1979). However, the XT tank from 1980 does not show any aluminum, as it is painted completely black and white. It was not until 1981 that the aluminum tank, so beloved by many XT500 owners, appeared in its full glory. Steel and aluminum tanks cannot be mounted on the other frame.
