When the model was changed from 1979 to 1980, the recesses for the inner tubes in the fender were moved to the rear due to the new fork, which means that the new fender shape only fits XT500 models built before 1979 with the help of our adapter.

Now the ‘early’ XT500 (with steel tank) can be easily converted to the longer and wider fender from the 1980 model year onwards without any further modifications!

• Installation of the long, wider fender from later model years on the XT500 up to 1979; inconspicuous installation using an adapter under the triple clamp - the fender sits perfectly centered between the front fork inner tubes and is still decoupled with rubber bushings. The wiring loom can also be routed under the yoke as intended.
  Delivery includes illustrated installation instructions.
